elf1 > This beautiful new bridge even had detailed carving on some of the railings. It was built by volunteers (under park engineering supervision).

elf1 > The Redwood Trail led us among redwoods of various sizes and several small groves, where young redoods like these circled the skeleton of its huge ancient ancestor.
elf1 > But I must say that the brilliant red poison oak leaves make a lovely sight. Some of the long-time Sierra Clubbers were talking about rangers who despair when uninformed people come out of the woods after a hike clutching bouquets of these beautiful shiny red leaves.
elf1 > The park has some nice views--much of which is still more of the park, which has been expanding greatly over time with the addition of more open space by the purchase of old ranches.
elf1 > The views of ridges, and of trails extending beyond the next  ridge, and of ridges beyond the ridges, were lovely. Didn't make us immediately think of diving, however.
