We're finally nearing the end of the really steep mile and a half, and now we'll be descending another 900 feet but gradually over 6 and a half more miles along canyon bottoms.

I find the desert to be quite beautiful. Sharp contrasts in textures and stark colors show up so much better here than just around town.

These very obvious standing rocks above the village are called the Wii Gl'iiva by the Havasupai. I have no idea what that means. Probably "standing rocks."
