Sunrise Hike in Neighborhood May 2009 - elf1's Photos

Today's forecast is for temperatures approaching 100F (38C). Hot. Missed out on most of our exercise yesterday because of the heat. So this morning starting at 5:30 (temp 68F/20C) the dogs and I took a brisk 4-mile stroll through the neighborhood. With point-and-shoot camera. Which feels strongly that the golden light of dawn does not provide enough light for actual photography, at least without a flash. It was a challenge.

elf1 > Canoas Creek in its concrete-lined bed. With places for lants to take hold. Not exactly its Natural Habitat.

elf1 > This hummingbird continually bipped in and out of this tree. Not sure what he was trying to tell me.

elf1 > Not a great shot; wanted to capture the fancy electronic sign out in front of the high school that all the schools seem to have now.

elf1 > Sunrise begins over Mount Hamilton--with Lick Observatory just a spec on the summit.

elf1 > I wanted to capture the complementary and vibrant colors, which nearly sparkled in the dawn. Camera wanted to flash.

elf1 > Another harsh flash-light attempt.

elf1 > The park-rules sign is bigger than this particular park, which was landscaped out of a scrap of land that was so teeny it ws otherwise unusable. My dogs were concerned about #21, no tampering with bait stations: Is there rat poison in the park? Scary...

elf1 > Camera is confused about how much light there is again. Won't use flash but now its shutter speed is too slow, hence, blurry. But it is a pretty little park.
