elf1 > Basset Hounds definitely have the cute Buy Hush Puppies Shoes look, like this tan and white one; he could sell several pairs of shoes right on the spot!
elf1 > Basset Hounds also have that jowly shake-head-to-spray-saliva-everywhere look which is less cute, like this tricolor.
elf1 > This guy has three Bassets. They left ahead of the rest of us so that those short legs got a running start. (At least, that's my theory.)
elf1 > I tried to capture how sweet and friendly and well-socialized this very cheerful brindle Boxer was, but no, he looks tough and jaded, doesn't he? Photos can lie!
elf1 > I wanted to show how different hiking feet are from agility feet. Huh...now I have to remember to take photos of agility feet sometime soon.
elf1 > This is the only scenic view I shot. Still a huge plume of smoke over the south bay, but this time I think it might have been from a fire in the Palo Alto Landfill, which really stunk up the peninsula driving through it.
elf1 > Don't know what these little dried flowers were, but they were everywhere, and attractive in a stark, elegant way.
elf1 > And a look at our old friend, rhus diversiloba, in its summer drought colors. It's the plant's oils that cause the rash, and dogs walking through it can pick it up and then, later, when you pet them, you get the rash. It was everywhere.
elf1 > But I must say that the brilliant red poison oak leaves make a lovely sight. Some of the long-time Sierra Clubbers were talking about rangers who despair when uninformed people come out of the woods after a hike clutching bouquets of these beautiful shiny red leaves.
Don't know what these little dried flowers were, but they were everywhere, and attractive in a stark, elegant way.
