elf1  > Vacation > Havasu Falls Grand Canyon May 2008 > Day 1C Los Banos Park and Museum, Sunset
(#4 on the map.) It's nearly 2:00 in the afternoon now, and technically we're still only an hour from home, so we still have 6 hours of driving to do today. So much for having lots of time! Still, we decide to take the more interesting 99 south instead of the barren I-5, which means cutting across on 152 through Los Baños.

elf1 > There's a lovely park, Los Baños park, with picnic tables, right next to the road through town. I never noticed it before, despite having driven through here dozens of times, because I never needed a park with picnic tables. We pull over easily and park.
elf1 > Several picnic tables are in the shade, and one of them is actually available, which is important in this heat.
elf1 > We get out our luncheon gear. Linda slices the tomatoes.
elf1 > Yummy home-made sandwiches for lunch!
elf1 > Yummmm!
elf1 > We notice, while sitting there, that there's a museum right next to the park. I love these small, local museums. You never know what you'll find. The sign was professionally done, but had odd "HH" and "MM" marks on either side of the arrow.
elf1 > After lunch, we stroll over. There's an interesting old house next to the museum, with the windows all boarded up.
elf1 > The museum is set back from the road, in a more modern-looking building.
elf1 > Linda grins with anticipation. It turns out to be a local museum with focus on Los Banos history, but fairly well organized and labeled. It's got artifacts from original Indian inhabitants through things that I used to see in my grandmother's attic. Cool stuff.
